What we keep, and why.
As little as possible. This page explains what the FutureLights website keeps for your account, show cloud backups, the software's anonymous statistics and the beta waiting list.
Updated on 2 November 2026
FutureLights account (sign in with Google)
- The account is optional: without one, FutureLights runs entirely on your PC.
- When you sign in with Google, we keep your email address, your name and your Google account identifier, to recognise you. No picture, no password, no access to your Google account.
- For each linked PC: its name, type, system, FutureLights version, link and last-use dates, and a fingerprint of its access token (never the token itself).
- Cookies: only those needed to sign in (30-day session, form protection, linking a PC for 10 minutes). No audience-measurement or advertising cookie.
Cloud backup
- Your backups are files encrypted by FutureLights on your PC before they are sent. The key stays with you: we cannot read them.
- For each backup we keep its size, its date, the PC that sent it, a show tag derived from your key (never its name), the key identifier and a fingerprint of the encrypted file (SHA-256) used to check that it arrived intact.
Anonymous software statistics
- Unless you turn it off, FutureLights sends anonymous statistics: version, system, number of interfaces and universes, features used (daily counters), nights (duration, number of presses), error codes and DMX loop performance.
- Never a name (show, button, fixture, file), never free text, nothing from your account: each batch carries a random installation identifier, renewed every 13 months, unrelated to your account, and nothing finer than the day.
- Turn them off at any time in the FutureLights settings; a button also erases everything already sent.
- They are only used to learn what is used and what breaks, to improve the software, and are kept for 400 days.
Credits and payments
- We keep the ledger of your credits: credits in (welcome, purchases, subscription, gifts), spending (feature used, date) and refunds.
- Payments are handled by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), the reseller that charges and handles VAT. We never see your card: we only keep the Paddle identifiers of your purchases and subscription, the amounts, the credits and the subscription status. During the beta, the checkout is in test mode: nothing is charged.
- Sales records: kept as long as the law requires (accounting), anonymised if you delete your account.
The FutureLights AI
- When you start an AI feature (theme, manual scan, picture from a photo, layout, scripted show, quiz scenes), FutureLights sends your request: the text you type or dictate, the list of your fixtures and content needed for the request and, depending on the feature, the manual pages or the photo you choose.
- Sub-processor: the request is processed by Anthropic (Claude API), in the United States, under its commercial terms, which exclude training its models on this data; Anthropic may keep it for a limited time, in particular to fight abuse. The transfer outside the European Union relies on the contractual safeguards provided for by the GDPR.
- The site does not keep the content of your requests. For each request it keeps: the feature, the date, the number of credits, the size of the request and of the answer in tokens, and its cost; the answer itself is kept 24 hours, to send it again if the network dropped, then erased.
- Do not send photos of people or personal information: only fixtures, manuals and the mood are useful.
Where and for how long
- The site and your files are hosted at Vercel, in its Paris region; the account database at Neon, in Europe. Sign-in goes through Google, payments through Paddle, AI requests through Anthropic (see above).
- Backups: until you delete them (FutureLights itself removes the oldest of each show) or delete your account. Linked PCs: until revoked. Session: 30 days. Anonymous statistics: 400 days.
- As with any website visit, the host receives your IP address. We do not record it: it is only used, in memory, to limit abuse.
Your rights, delete everything
- On the My account page: see your PCs and backups, revoke a PC, delete a backup, and download everything we keep (JSON file).
- “Delete my account” immediately erases all your online backups, your linked PCs and your account.
- Without your recovery key a backup stays unreadable: we cannot restore it for you.
Beta waiting list
- The “Join the beta” form only asks for an email address and your consent, so we can write to you about the beta. It is never sold or shared.
